Pioneered by SEAT's
Brand Group partner, Audi, TDI stands
for Turbocharged Diesel Injection engine.
This type of high performance motor is
characterised by economy, reduced emissions
and increased, low-end power (torque).
Available on the new SEAT Toledo's 2.0L
diesel model, the general principle behind
TDI is: a turbocharger delivers air to
the engine and ensures the cylinder is
filled to an optimum level. Then, in
the last part of the compression stroke,
very high-pressure diesel fuel is injected
into the combustion chamber to create
a highly combustible air/fuel mix. This
reduces emissions, increased performance
and, thanks to the engine encapsulation
and hydraulic mounts, keeps noise down,
ensures smooth running and low vibration. |
