Available with the
new SEAT Toledo's the 2.0L TDI engine,
the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) breaks
new ground in the science of power transmission.
It combines the best characteristics
of the two "shift and drive" worlds and
eliminates the usual conflict between
sportiness, convenience and economy.
The thing that really sets this fully
automatic, 6-speed gearbox apart is its
ability to shift gears almost seamlessly
and without interrupting the drive of
the engine. This is achieved via the
use of two wet clutches that handle alternate
gears. It delivers transition-free and
completely smooth acceleration from a
standing start to top speed. Overtaking
manoeuvres in particular become effortless
to carry out.
The DSG was not only designed for smoother
gear changing, it also provides increased
levels of fuel economy: the 2.0L TDI consumes
the same amount of fuel with a DSG as
it does with a 6-speed manual gearbox:
6.0 litres per 100 km total in average. |
