A belief in taking driving
to the limit does not equate to a belief in taking
safety there as well.
The New Leon has been fitted with an impressive
arsenal of technologies that act as your virtual
co-pilot and take care of safety when you're
concentrating on the drive: active safety means
informed, advised, aware and equipped with the
ability to make better decisions, faster… no
belief in driving should be put into practise
without it.

The ABS is designed to prevent
the wheels from locking up during braking.
Even under emergency braking conditions, the
car remains in control, which means the driver
can avoid an obstacle without having to release
the brakes first.
The New Leon's ABS system is further enhanced
with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).
EBD ensures maximum braking performance and under
normal conditions it prevents the rear-end from
sliding out due to over-braking.
It also eliminates 'brake fading', which often
results from overheating.

Complementing ESP in the
New Leon's arsenal of exhilarating safety technologies,
EBA (Emergency Brake Assistance) comes into play
in emergency stops or panicky braking manoeuvres
when drivers brake rapidly, but ineffectively.
The EBA sensors recognise the attempt at full
braking and transmit a signal calling for full
brake pressure.
The result is a slow, strong application of the
full brake force from a short pedal movement
and a significantly reduced braking distance.
New, Driver Steering Recommendations take safety
and driving excitement to new levels by helping
you stick to 'the fine line'.
It works by sending tiny impulses to the steering
wheel when the sensors detect the car's inertia
are beginning to send it off the idea line.
In addition to making driving more stable and
shortening breaking distances, the recommendations
are the New Leon's way of telling you where the
limit is.

Taking a belief in safety
to new levels, this innovative piece of standard
kit gives you more confidence than ever in pushing
the New Leon to its limits.
Consisting of a receiver, temperature compensator
and internal tyre pressure monitor, the system
informs you as soon as tyre pressure drops below
a certain level and is even smart enough to handle
pressure differences caused by ambient temperature.

If you're a believer in pushing
the limits, you need to be a huge believer in
knowing what's going on around you.
We've covered this off in the New Leon by making
it the first vehicle in our stables to be offered
with this high-performance illumination system.
Xenon lamps create light by sending an arch of
current between two tungsten electrodes, fitted
inside a glass chamber filled with xenon gas
and halogenised metal salts.
The beam of light this produces has a characteristic
blue/green colour and is twice as intense as
that of the halogen lamp. This give you extended
reach and clarity of illumination, meaning better
vision, less strain and safer driving in challenging
conditions.
